Growing up in Arizona we we forced to share a roof with scorpions. At any given moment there could be one on the wall in the backyard or in your shoe. So you learn to shake your shoes, check your bed, and even scan your toilet paper for the them. I was even stung by one in my bed and I lived. Yes, strange you may say, but you just get use to them.
I'm getting used to the idea of alligators in my backyard. I was staring out my kitchen window and saw something cruisin down the water. I ran outside with my camera (with dead batteries) and saw an alligator casually floating down the water. Funny thing is I was okay with it. My sturdy fence will keep out the alligators. But the next day John saw this on the edge of the water...a highly poisonous water moccasin snake. The snake was trying to throw his fish dinner on shore. I'm NOT okay with something that can slither through my fence!!! Oh and Cade, he did get his BB gun and tried shooting him in the head. Our neighbors were out fishing right next to us and I'm sure they saw John shooting with the gun and thought some psychos moved in next door!
This week was so low-key. Heidi and her kids came over a couple of times to hang out in the hot tub and to keep us company. There's nothing like hanging out in your swimsuit grubbing on snacks all day! Friday Heidi and I decided to take Austin and McKenna on a little date to Horton Hears a Who. I thought he looked so grown up here getting ready for the movie.
Brock and John ended up coming to the movie too. I was worried about Brock being loud but he loved the movie. We brought a sucker for him which I busted out way too early. By the end of the movie John and I had popcorn sticking to our sticky limbs. Later that night John and I got a sitter to go to a kid-free, sucker sticking in John's arm hair free dinner to Cheesecake Factory and movie (21-it's good, go see it). We haven't been out alone in forever and it was nice to just be husband/wife for a while instead of the mom/dad role we always play. In between dinner and the movie we went clothes and house shopping. We're searching for the perfect rug for our living room and it just isn't happening. If anyone knows where to find cute 8X10 rugs that are cheap let me know!
Brock is officially crawling. Please save your oohs and aahs since he turns one in 2 weeks. He's been getting around for a while but he finally figured out that crawling like you and I know it requires way less energy than the crazy contortionist thing he was doing. John and I affectionately call him David Letterman because of the huge gap in his front teeth.

I am officially freaked out for you about the snake!! Not only do I hate snakes but I really hate deadly ones!!
BTW~ Dr. Thomas says that the gap between Brock's teeth are a good thing and it is better than no spaces at all, so there is room for his perm. teeth!
That snake picture is still freaking me out! I am going to have nightmares tonight about snakes, I shouldn't have looked so late! We had so much fun this week, we are going to miss you. I will call you when we get back. And by the way, that is the freaking cutest picture of Austin ever. He totally looks like a little model.
Austin is soo handsome, just wait til he's older and gettin ready for real dates! haah! And Broch is adorable. Gracie was here this weekend and I thought of Broch...they hit it off so well at the wedding. And I'm sorry about the snakes & the alligators, you're so much more brave than i'd be:) hope you guys are doing well!
Creepy about the snake! Congrats on a night out too. So jealous! Someday! Brock is too cute too...glad he's finally crawling. Crazy kiddo!
Oh! Seriously are you kidding me?? I am FREAKING out and I can't wait for Ty to get home so I can show him this picture! Nasty!
Amber
PS. Austin looks ADORABLE!
Ok so I got creepy goose bumps all over when I saw that picture of the snake.....SICK!! Cade asked why John didn't kill/chop the snake up. Or maybe he could have gotten his spear gun out and shot him through the eye ball like he did to that poor catfist at powell. That would work too!!
Austin is such a handsome little devil and YAY for crawling!!
I took my kids to see that movie. I was super cute! My kids loved it. Your boys are adorable. Keep them away from those snakes & alligators!
Eeek! I don't like poisoness snakes! I'm still trying to gear myself up for the scorpions when we move to AZ this May.
ok I could go on forever about how I would die if I saw that snake anywhere near my house, but I thought I would spare you and let you know we found cute rugs at jcpenneys in the store, not so many on line, but the Christopher madden collection and jcpenney home collection are cute and affordable and also at target. good luck!
i just realized i spelled brock's name wrong earlier, soo sorry. that probably bugs!
the watersnake thing would totally freak me out! do you have your property sprayed for bugs? I know there's some sort of "snake fense" they can put up. they lay donw some chemicals on the edge of the grass and the snakes dont like to cross it...at least my mom does it for rattle snakes in her yard and it works.
That's pretty freaky! I would be scared to death to even be near that creature, let alone alligators!!!! I'll stick with the scorpions.
Your boys are too cute. I don't think I'd like knowing I live next to snakes that could kill me...that's a little crazy. Be careful!
Can't get that snake picture out of my head! I am so scared of snakes......you are one brave girl, I'd be on the next plane home to AZ!
AAH! I could not handle alligators, and I DEFINITELY couldn't handle poisenous snakes in my backyard. That's scary!! Brock is so dang cute, love those blue eyes and what a little stud Austin is.
Oh my EWWWWWWWW! That is completely GROSS. I'm SO afraid of snakes (and spiders) and the fact that it's poisonous that would be enough to make me move. YUCK !
How cute is Austin and him going on a date.
Yikes, the water mocasin is way scary!!! I don't know if I'd go outside after seeing that!!!
You win. Snakes are way worse than bees!
I'm so glad that Brock has taken his time too! Brenna is over 8 months and won't crawl compared to my boys who crawled around 6-7. I just have to remind myself how much harder she'll be to watch when she can really move. Have you tried Costco for their rugs? They are good prices and usually have some cool imported types.
Ok...so don't feel bad about Brock being a slow crawler! Both Charli and Boston didn't crawl until they were a year old, and they didn't walk until they were 16 months! I seriously thought that Charli was handicapped, I even took her to a pediatric physical therapist (I think that's what the weirdo was) to try and get her to crawl! And you know what? She totally did it like a pro...when she was ready! ( oh, and about the cheap rugs...Target usually has some dang cute ones for pretty cheap online).
