It feels like a bad dream that I can't shake. The phone rang at 3 AM Friday morning. Those kind of phone calls are never good. My first thought was my kids. We were in San Diego for a golf tournament John was in and the kids were back in Denver with Sheri. John said, "Your mom's calling." Oh, no. Something has happened to dad. Wrong again.
My mom told me that my sister Sandra died suddenly from a blood clot in her lungs. I'm still in shock.
We are all mourning in our own ways. Lots of swollen eyes and tears. Sandra was a great mother, wife, daughter, and sister. As we get ready for her funeral, pick out her casket, the flowers, the dress she'll be buried in, write her obituary...I can't stop thinking I should NOT be having to do this for my sister. She's so young. This isn't real. It's just a bad dream. This is so hard.

NO! Words seem empty and so many people have said what I feel. I wish more than anything I could be there and just give you a hug. Sometimes when people say with good intentions, "it was meant to be" maybe but it doesn't take the hurt away from losing someone you love.
