Celebrating 28 years of life...

Considering the recent events I wanted a very low key birthday. I went on a kid free shopping trip while John and the kids made me cake.

Holy candles!

I want to thank everyone who have been there for me. For those of you who have called, emailed, talked and cried with me I will never forget you. I hope that if you ever need comforting that I can be as good of a friend to you as you have been to me.

I feel like I have a whole new understanding of death and consequently a whole new relationship with life. For those of you who have lost someone maybe you understand. Once you've experienced a huge life trial you can never be the same. Not necessarily bad. I can't begin to tell you how much I've learned in the past 2 weeks.

I gave the lesson in Young Womens and when I saw the topic I thought, "Are you kidding me?" It was on overcoming opposition and how to deal with trials such as death of a loved one. It was just what I needed. My favorite scripture from it is D&C 122: 7 "...and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good."

I know this isn't the last trial I will have in my life. Maybe not even the worst. But I do know now that if the "very jaws of hell" open their mouth wide after me I am going to be okay and I will be stronger than I was before.

Bring it on...

Wow - I remember that scripture also stood out to me when I lost a loved one...and the comment that Darce left was really neat and sincere. You are such a strong person Christy. Thank you for sharing the experience of your sister's death over the past few weeks. I has made me stand back and think about what life is really about.
