Friends are the family we choose...

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving marked five months since my sister Sandra passed away. I miss her but I am doing okay. Although I am not going to lie, her death has definitely left a huge wake in our family. Some of us have grown stronger but some are struggling terribly. Respecting the privacy of those in my family, I will say that outside of Sandra's death, this year has held many trials for my family. I know that this Thanksgiving we all appreciated the reminder to count our blessings. For some of us it took some digging, but we did it. We thanked Heavenly Father for all he has given us and for the family and friends that helps us through tough times.

I was at the store the other day with the my kids and a girl who worked there was flirting with Brock. She started asking where I was from and if I had family here. She was shocked to hear that I had no family out here.

I said, "I don't have family but I have great friends."

To which she said, "Friends are the family you choose."

How true. Well this Thanksgiving I was thankful to spend it with my family away from home once again, the Clarks, Becks, and Weisenbergers. Barb was a great host and the food was so yummy.

Here's a flashback to last Thanksgiving with our little ones.

Look how much hair they have grown since then?

Wow, I LOVE the saying. In fact, I think I'll get it in vinyl lettering for my parent's house. Your post was great. It made me tear up.

Christy you are so amazing! I'm always grateful for Thanksgiving and time to reflect. This last year has also been trying and I just trying to keep enduring - it will all work out. I'm actually excited to turn 30 so I can escape 29! But I totally agree that our friends are the family we choose. Hope all is well!
