For a fun family outing we headed to Shark Valley which is about 35 minutes from our house. First of all, there's nothing "shark" about Shark Valley. Nothing. It's a natural reserve that has a 15 mile bike loop that literally has alligators in the middle of the bike trail. The alligators see so many people that they are almost docile. Unless you look like a small animal which is why I kept Brock on a short leash. Unfortunately when we got there Austin was over the weight limit for the bikes that had child seats in them so we couldn't do the loop. I was bummed.
The guides there reassured us that everything we would see we could see in the first 1/2 mile so you can also walk the bike trail which is what we did. We saw probably 15 alligators, 6 which were in the middle of the path and we could have rode like horses. Although it was cool to see so many alligators up close and personal, it was a little anti-climatic after having one in our backyard at home.
