We have received some questions of confusion, and rightfully so. There is an inconsistency with our text and our last post. I told Christy that she had to explain but she wasn't in the mood so I told her I would take care of it even though I have have never blogged before. So here goes.....
When we texted out the announcement to everyone you were told that our new son was going to be Weston Cash Denney. Christy and I had talked about how since you never really use your middle name we should have a little fun with it (the only time you need a middle name is to fill out a government document). Christy told me she liked the name Cash (or Cache, it never made it far it enough to decide spelling) and so we went with it. Out went the texts to most and the phone calls to our parents. The response from my mom was speechless (anyone who knows my mom knows that is hard to do). When she gathered her thoughts she gave me an awkward chuckle followed by "are you messing with me?" I chuckled back because I was serious and she responded a relieved "Oh so you ARE joking". This caused me to laugh harder and then I explained that it was his real name. Then she said that she couldn't understand me and that I was breaking up at which point we were "disconnected".
One down one to go.
Christy's mom was with us at the hospital when she heard what we were going to name him. Anyone who knows her mom knows that she is a saint and will probably be translated. She has never said anything to anyone that wasn't pure butter on your buns. As I drove her and the kids home that night I was approached with the question "Should I tell you what I think? Or should I keep my mouth shut?" I invited her to express her feelings as I laughed to myself thinking "I didn't know we had chosen such a controversial name". What I found out ( in the nicest way possible ) was that the name Cash was "worldly". After I had a chance to put the kids in bed I called up Christy at the hospital and I told her we might need to rethink the middle name.
Who knows what everyone else is thinking. The only positive response I got was from Kris.
The next morning when the birth certificate lady came in to collect the possibly offensive information she was given "Weston James Denney". You can't go wrong with "James". It is both family (Christy's Grandpa) and Biblical.
After we found out how our mothers had really felt we couldn't give Wes the middle name Cash. With that kind of reaction we are going to save it for the first name of our next child.
We Like "Cache Steele Denney."
or
"Cash Money Denney." - for Christy's mom

Well shoot since I'm the lone supporter (Sherry I can't believe you aren't with me)!, call me "WORLDLY" maybe I should repent, but I still like "CASH"! I guess you are right you can't go wrong with Family and Biblical! P.S. I like Cash Flow Denney...
That's quite funny story! Glad you listened to your Mommas! :) Actually...Cash sounded cute. And...like you said...middle names don't really matter. Congrats!
OH DANG! I really liked the name! Maybe I should repent too!
Thanks for the clarification. I could totally imagine the conversation with your mom! LOL LOL LOL!
If it makes you feel any better, Dan's grandma scoffed at the name "Axton" and said that we couldn't possibly name such a beautiful boy such a horrible name as that.
Well we did. ;)
Congratulations regardless! I love the name Weston! - and James is just perfect.
Tyler is dying... hilarious!! I actually really liked the name too, but I also named my kid TAZ!
We can totally relate Boston was going to be Cruz Carlson and Clarke let us know if we named him that we would be removed from the will...
Congrats guys! We love ya! A
This made me laugh and laugh. A good friend of ours named their little boy Cashe and if they ever have another boy they want to name him Charge...
Congrats!!!!!! You have such a beautiful family. You look so beautiful Christy!! I love the 1st picture of your new babe!!!
Congrats! loved the story and I'm not gonna lie I love the name Cash! He looks so precious! Miss you guys

Just wanted to say congrats.I think the name rocks.. It sound like a good football player name.. If you know what IM sayin.. With the First pick in 2030 NFL Westin James Denney.. I think it awesome..Congrats John and Family Love always Tony&Nick Wow 2030 thats Scary...
As a parent of a child with a "strange" first name, I have to admit that I was shaking when I signed the birth certificate. I actually cried for DAYS after we brought her home. I was convinced nobody was calling my daughter by her name b/c it was too weird to even say. They would say, "How's the baby?" But I got over it and now I LOVE that we named her Paisley. Isn't it amazing how other people can make you think twice about your decisions!!! Congrats again...no matter what his name is, he is beautiful and lucky to have such a great family.
Congrats on your new little man! That's so funny about Cash. We wanted to name our little boy Tron (after the 80's Disney show) to represent our nerdy side but the family was horrified. and now they are coming out with the sequal (SO EXCITED) not sure if that would have hurt or helped our cause. haha so we have Logan instead.
Congratulations! What a beautiful family you have. I love all the dark hair he has, and what a cute name.
Congratulations!! He is adorable! Loved the story!
congratulations on baby #3.....we sure hope to see you all one of these days. You really should plan a trip to the Jackson Hole area!!! Lots of love
Christy I for one love Cash, especially cash money. Honestly though I really do think Cash, cache is SO cute. Our parents hated the name Kayze, but hopefully its grown on them. Your kids are gorgeous seriously You have such a beautiful family. Congrats!
HAHAHA that's classic...leave it to the moms to not like anything outside the norm... my mom's the same way. I think you should go with Steele Cache next time, but should spell it Steal Cash. Moms will like that. Congrats on the little Weston!
John I have never heard anything so funny come out of your mouth (or your writing)! I love the name cash for the record! Thanks for checking on the fish and I am glad that Christy let down her pride and used the swing for crying out loud! Would you teach that girl how to let people help her?
Yea, Christy!! My Cooper's name was Weston for a whole day & we texted everybody too, until I changed it to Cooper when the lady came to make it official. I love that name, but Coop beat it! Congrats on everything. Love ya, Jaime
Okay this was awesome and I love how it all finally came together!! Too great for words and I'm so glad your hubby shared...
CONGRATS Christy- I really can't tell you how beautiful your little family is...GORGEOUS. I hope all is well and busy over there. xoxo
What a funny story to have to tell! My husband wanted to do Cash so bad my last pregnancy if we were going to have a boy! Ha Ha. Anyway, your new little treasure is the most adorable boy!
