John never wants to do anything big on his birthday. Usually I bypass what he says and set up a dinner with all his friends. But this year I was worn out. So when he said he just wanted to go golfing and then to dinner with me, that's what we did. When you don't get out much without kids simple things like that are a treat.
We had coconut cake with the kids before we went out. Wes was more excited than any of us. We lit and re-lit the candles over and over so each kid could help daddy blow out his candles.
