Our ten year anniversary was last month. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years. In some ways it has flown by and in others ways I look back at us 10 years ago and think, "Who are those people?" Which is good because how sad would it be if we were the exact same people we were 10 years ago.
I always tell people that no matter how well you think you know your soon-to-be husband, you don't. And vice versa. There's no way you can know how they're going to handle when one of you books a flight for the wrong day (me) or how they are going to react when your kid cracks his head open and is gushing blood (I failed miserably there). But I lucked out. John and I have similar views on money, family, and kids most of the time. And although you don't have to be identical in your views, it sure helps when your at least coming from the same general point. Oh, and we love each other a lot. That helps too.
So much has happened in the last 10 years. We've been together through babies, marriages, deaths, sickness, surgeries, and lots of crazy adventures.
For our 10 year we wanted to do something a little more special and thought why not take advantage of having easy access to cruises here so we sailed off to the Bahamas. Plus John and I are food people who can eat both eat 13 meals a day so the cruise was fitting. The cruise was our gift to each other and we are putting together a video of the last ten years. Although we've both been a little busy with John in training camp so it's coming soon...
Most of the time on our cruise we didn't have our camera with us because it was a locked up in a locker while we were out exploring. Which was fine because the cruise people take your picture everywhere you go...and then charge you a chunk of change for them. Here's our boarding picture. John said he didn't see the signs that said don't take pictures with your phones of the pictures until the last day. Mmm-hmm.We hit Atlantis in the Bahamas for a day. Atlantis has an amazing water park with a slide that actually goes through a shark tank. And if you know John, you know that we had to go on every slide they had at the park. Here's the one pic we took while we were there.
We rented a jet ski off the shore of Atlantis. On our honeymoon in Cabo I remember we didn't rent one because we were college kids and didn't want to spend $30 so this time we wanted to make sure we splurged and squeezed it in. The Bahamas have bright blue water that is unbelievably clear. On the jet ski you can see all the way down to the bottom of the ocean floor 200 yards from shore. I know this looks just like the picture above but with jet skis and crazy hair.
That night was formal night on the cruise which means we got to dress all fancy and do all of the high school dance poses that I never got to with John.
John really loves taking pictures. :) I figured at least this awkward one was free.
I really miss my eyelash extensions. My sister does them in Arizona and did them twice while I was there. It's too expensive out here to keep it up so now they are gone and I feel naked. My eyes...feel naked. And my hair straightener broke the second day of the cruise so I had perpetually frizzy hair the whole time. I guess being married for 10 years means loving me with frizzy hair.
The best part of a cruise is that you can do as little or as much as you want. I think we did almost everything that was available on the cruise. We saw comedy shows, participating in scavenger hunts, watched the belly flop competition, spot the fake diamond competition, and bingo.
Here we are at the private island CocoCay. We did some snorkeling and it was so clear it rivaled Hawaii. The water was so hot in certain areas I felt like I was being boiled alive.
On our actual anniversary we woke up in Key West.
We set out on a walk down Duval Street to see the sights and to go to the Southernmost Point in the US.
This was the Adam & Eve bar where clothing is optional on the second story. We stayed downstairs and checked out the money.
We thought this was the southernmost point....
But THIS actually was. I was a little paranoid I wasn't in the picture so I crowded the sign a bit.
They brought us a cake on our anniversary night. Then we went to the buffet upstairs and ate more cake 20 minutes later.
Happy 10 years!

HAHAHAHA! You know it's a 10 year anniversary when every picture you take looks exactly the same with a different background. You even stand on the same side of each other every time. It seems as though you two have taken a lot of pictures together!
