Happy Birthday Heidi!

On Friday my good friend Heidi turned the big 3-0! The first time I saw Heidi was when she was giving a talk in church and I leaned over to John and said, "I'm going to be friends with her." Sometimes you just know. I am so grateful to have Heidi as a friend (and pool buddy!). She is always trying to do nice things for me. Heidi has taught me not be apologetic about things that you believe strongly in, she keeps me up to date on political issues and I love that she always has Sportscenter on. Being away from family is hard and you have to rely on friends out here. Luckily, I have found a good friend who has become part of my extended family!

The Cupcake...
I attempted to make my huge cupcake. Let's just say the learning curve is steep! If you look close you can see where Austin stuck his finger in it right as Heidi walked in our door! So for Heidi's big day we got two beehives in our ward to watch Austin and McKenna and we headed to Outback with the Johnstuns. It was so nice to get out with our friends even if the "crazies" were out. For some reason Ryan and Hiedi were magnets for random drunk people and touchy waiters. The food was so good...so good that I woke up this morning saying, "I will never eat again."

12 year old + 12 year old = 24 year old ???? (not quite)

The girls did a good job babysitting and when we came home they were letting the kids make Heidi birthday cards with my permanent markers on my kitchen table :) (I did get the stains off with some scrubbing) and when I asked if the kids ate their dinner they said, "Yeah, Austin had a slice of pizza and McKenna had cake!" Both kids were alive so we can't complain too much.

What a great night...you can't beat good food, good conversation, and good friends!

I had to take this picture of Brock at dinner who kept staring up at John so adoringly as if to say "Who is this wonderful man who keeps feeding me bites of chocolate?"

Okay, that is the sweetest blog ever. You make me sound WAY cooler than I really am! When I read it to Ryan he said that he couldn't believe I wasn't crying and I was like, I am trying not to! That is the cutest picture of John and Brock too! We had such a great time with you guys, thanks again for spending my birthday with me!

Christy, hey I don't know if you remember us but you totally watched our 3 boys while we were in Provo packing to move to Georgia. We lived in the same apartments and you were just such a awesome friend. We have 5 boys now...Robby, Carson, Easton, Ty, and Bowen and we are still in Atlanta. Bob is almost done with his Phd but we have watched John play all these years! My sister Emily told me about your blog. I just wanted to say hi. Amanda Saisnbury email me if you want sainsrob@hotmail.com. Let me know if you ever come up to Atlanta. I would love to see you. It's fun to see all of the pictures of your family. I love that you have boys. They are so cute.

That huge cupcake is so cool! Did you have a special pan for it? Too cute!

That is too funny about your babysitter! I have a few babysitter stories too, but really - as long as the kids are okay it is worth a fun night out. Good thing you were able to get the marker off!

I love the babysitting story. I remember ladies in my ward letting me babysit when I was 8! Thinking back, it was absurd!
