Yesterday the Dolphins held their annual wives luncheon to get to know one another and to discuss our upcoming trip to London. Usually they hold this luncheon at a local country club but this year they held it at the Dolphin's facility. When I called to RSVP I asked what the dress code was since it wasn't listed on the invitation. Usually on the invitation the dress is something fun like "Miami chic" or the last one was "tropical fall attire". I then spend the whole time leading up to the event trying to interpret the dress code. So the lady I spoke to said, "Oh, it's really casual this year. They're just holding it in the locker room." So I say to myself, "Sweet, I'll just wear jeans." I call my friend Barb Beck and she too is planning on wearing jeans. So we show up and sure enough they had transformed the stinky locker room into what looked like a "Dolphins" themed wedding. Our food was served by men in tuxedos, the chairs had slipcovers with silk bows draping down the back, and they had these amazing cakes as a centerpieces for each table. Needless to say, Barb and I were the only ones in jeans!! I should have known better! If I have learned anything, it is that you can rarely ever be overdressed at things like this. The cakes tasted amazing but left all of our lips and mouths bright teal for the pictures we had to take at the end!
Katie and I pretending to cut the cake like a bride and groom.
The Dolphins play the Giants in London at the end of October. I am so excited that the wives get to tag along too (kids not invited)! My sweet mother-in-law Sheri is going to take care of the boys. They gave us our London itinerary and on one day we are doing a group trip around London but we get to choose from 4 activity options:
A: Castle Excursion - tour State Apartments at Windsor Castle, Queen Mary's Dolls House & st. George Chapel, Hampton Court Palace
B: The Royal Tour - Kensington Palace, Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussauds
C: West End Tour - Cabinet War Rooms, changing of the guard at Horse Guards Parade, Westminster Abbey, Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace
D: City of London - St. Paul's Cathedral, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Tate Modern
This might as well be in Spanish because I have no idea what 90% of these places are so if anyone has been to London please let me know which ones I've gotta hit. We have some free time so we can probably go check out more than one of these options then.

That will be sooo much fun, I'm way excited for you guys! The cakes look awesome, I love it! How fun! I can't wait to see pictures from London, and I think that's so cool that they are taking the wives, what a great experience!
Oh fun! That cake was cute. I know what you mean about Miami, we went there on buisness this spring and I swear I was NEVER sressed right! I can't believe you get to go to London! That will make for some super bloggin' for sure! Its cool that it is not just about the players, that they get there is a family behind them all too!
I so would have been one of the women that showed up in jeans.
Hey, I am not sure what marathon Casi is running in, but it isn't until April. I'll have to find out. I am trying to get her on to the blogging train, so maybe we'll be able to hear about her running tales too.
london looks like it will be such a fun trip! can't wait to hear about it and see photos! that's pretty funny about the dress code...good thing for us we are in the most casual of all nfl clubs and can pretty much wear jeans (or sweats)to most everything!
I am so excited that you get to go to London, it will be such a fun trip! I have never been to London therefore do not know where is the coolest sites. But as I read the list I was like, everything sounds awesome so I don't think you can go wrong.
How fun! I hate not feeling dressed "just right" I'm sure no one cared! Oh, London, how fantastic! I've never been but, I'm sure it will be amazing! That is great that they treat the wives "part of the team". Fun, fun, fun!
The royal tour sounds cool, but I've never been there and am just as clueless!
I hate wearing the wrong clothes and feeling out of place. I bet you looked cute though and were much more comfortable than in a fancy dress! How funny, your posts crack me up!!
How cool is that??!!! Sounds like so much fun! I want to come. What an awesome experience that will be. I love the cake and that it turned your mouth teal. Funny!
How fun. I'm so excited for you. Some day I want to go to Europe.
