Heidi, me, and Barb with our little ones: Ashlyn, Brock, and Ty
Thanksgiving was a little crazy this year. We invited the Becks and the Clarks over since they're our family away from home. Everyone pitched in and brought a couple of their favorite family dishes. To represent my Larson side we had green bean casserole and cherry cheese pie. Heidi brought plenty of Martinellis to satisfy both our family traditions. Some of the dishes the girls finished cooking at my house so we were all in the kitchen trying to figure things out. Amateur night at the Denneys resulted in some hits and some misses. My turkey was a little dry but no one noticed because they were all too busy staring at the gravy that turned into a jello mold. Let's just say Barb and I got a little carried away with making the gravy THICK. It was so thick that when John Beck went to pour gravy on his mashed potatoes the whole thing started to come out in one lump. It tasted great though!
Thanks to the Clarks and Becks for coming. There's no one else I would rather have Thanksgiving with away from our families even with all of the chaos!
I bought McKenna and Austin little Pilgrim hats which turned out to be the source of many arguments. I don't know how they could fight over the hats when they each had one. Brilliant me planned the meal right during nap time so I guess I was asking for it. Austin kept calling them Cowboy hats and would scream, "My Cowboy!"
We couldn't decide if we wanted jello or gravy so we made 2-in-1.

I can't believe how fast you got these pictures blogged. Glad you were with such fun friends that you can make fun of the meal and not hurt anyones feelings. Those friends are keepers!!!
That was such a nice post, way better than mine! Although I do not like that picture of us in the hats, I look totally pregnant! But we had a great time, thank you so much! We know you are great friends when you put up with us and our drama queen of the year! And your turkey was way good, I didn't just put that in my blog because you were going to read it, silly girl!
I say Kudos to you for trying. We had our first Thanksgiving away from family this year and I can say I am completely grateful for good friends. it was a good day...and I had my first taste of the green bean casserole! Since I made it I can say that I am not a fan. :)
Happy thanksgiving you guys! Love the pictures, and I'm so glad you guys have each other. It's so nice to have good friends! So glad you guys had a great day!
I still to this day have never made gravy. I don't know why but I think it would look similar to yours:)
that was so funny. I loved the gravy pictures, wow that happened to me all the time!
Hey Christy. This is Kelly Evers, I was your neighbor at King Henry forever ago! I saw your blog on Becky's blog a long time ago and could not figure out whether we had classes together or what, but now it all makes sense! Small world! Anyway I just wanted to say hi, you have an adorable little family and I am way jealous of that warm weather in Florida, how nice!
LOL! I think most people have trouble with gravy at one time or another!! I remember the days when we did Thanksgiving by ourselves, at least you have good friends to come over! Happy Thanksgiving!
happy thanksgiving. looks like you all had a great time! that's pretty funny about the gravy...at least it sounds like it tasted ok and everyone was a pretty good sport about it!
Okay, well I am glad you remembered me!! I would have felt dumb:)Becky and I have just been great friends for the last few years, we have been neighbors, and now we have both moved! They are so great though! SO random, I looked up Aaron and Jill on google blog search and they have a blog. I have been meaning to comment on it for a while. I cant think of what their blog is, but if you want I can find it for you! It looks like they are doing really well!!! They have two boys too. Do you talk to anyone else from KH? Those were fun times-although I am so glad they are over! Sorry this is so long!
That is so fun! Glad you had a good time even if the food was not "Mom's"!
How fun ! Looks like you had a great day. I love the holidays.

Hi Christy! I totally thought I had already said hi but I must have just been thinking I did. How are you? It is so good to hear from you and see pics of your cute family!!! Happy Thanksgiving! Your blog and family are too cute!
Christy and John! Long time!! How fun to hear from you guys and it's so fun to read your blog and see all your adventures! You do lead a very adventurous life! And...I love that you have "More than Words" on your playlist because it brings back fond KH memories with us calling you to verify who sang that song! We did google John's name once to see where he was playing! That's so awesome! Your two boys are so adorable too! You'll have to keep in touch!
That gravy looks great. Looks like you had a great Thanksgiving. Good job.
LOL that gravy is a crack up! I love that you can take funny pictures and laugh about it. I can get the right thickness, but how the heck do people get all the lumps out? How nice to have good friends to spend the holidays away from your family with. Looks like fun!
Ok, last comment for this post:) I hope you don't mind I added you to my blog! Now I can keep up on your fun life. Hey I saw that John was from Thorton so if you are ever out this way we should get together, I bet our kids would have a great time too!
Hey Christy, there guns aren't really even bb guns. The bb's are plastic. They went quail hunting so they really just followed Bryon around. They didn't even carry the guns with them. Before they came home bryon let them shoot pop cans & water bottles. Bryon said it only knocked the bottles down. It didn't even puncture them.
