Happy 29th birthday to my hubby John!

Today John turned the age that people want to stay at the rest of their lives! John had his birthday meal at Red Lobster (thanks Tara and Megan for the gift card). Most people that don't know John that well think John is shy and quiet but if they only knew the real him they would be shocked. That's okay, it will be my little secret knowing what a gem I have.

No one wants to hear gushing and John will probably be a little embarassed but if there's a day to gush about him it is TODAY!

Reasons why I love John:

1) He is so fun to be around. John attracts people to him like a moth to a flame, white on rice, Christy to chocolate...you get the picture. He has an energy that is infective and his friends call him when they want to be adventurous. He has more lifetime friends than anyone I know.

2) He's a great dad. Austin wants nothing to do with me when John is home. He worships everything John does and tries to emulate him in dress and actions. They look so cute walking around in their matching Nike gear. John has a way of reasoning with Austin that I still haven't figured out to do. Brock likes to spend hours pulling John's goatee...John has yet to complain.

3) He is good at everything. Sometimes this gets frustrating but I still secretly adore him for it...but for once I would like to beat him at something. I think the only thing I can beat him at is Scrabble and I'm sure when he reads this he will think that's debatable and we will immediately have to play an impromptu game.

4) If I had one word to describe John it would be THOROUGH. He believes in doing something right the first time. There are so many examples of this. Hanging pictures, cutting hair, measuring things, cleaning...okay, I really could go on forever.

5) I have always said that when you get married you think you know someone so well but you really can't know the ins and outs of a person until you've spent years with them. Let's face it, as much as you think you do, you just don't know what you are getting into. Fortunately for me, I have been pleasantly surprised. I couldn't think of someone who is more of a perfect fit for me! We have different views on some things which keeps it interesting, but for the things that really matter we are in sync. He knows when my NO means YES and my YES means NO.

Sometimes I still can't believe how handsome you are. Most of all I love you!

Happy Birthday!

How sweet! Christy, you are such a good wife. I think back on my post on Ryan's birthday and find that I am severely lacking! (Is that the right way to spell severely?) Anyway, you guys are a great couple and Ryan and I have really enjoyed getting to know you guys better. You are the best!

Happy Birthday John, you old man! Just kidding...I'm there too. Christy, love that cake, so cute! You guys are so perfect for each other. What a great "tribute" to John! Did he always win when we had game night at BYU, I don't remember??

So it really WAS for his birthday! Perfect! :) Hope you guys had a good time. That was a really sweet post. John is lucky to have such a great woman! And I still can't get over how cute your kids are. We watched home video the other night of when we were at Powell in '06 and Austin looked so little. He's such a stud.

Okay where did you get that cupcake pan?? Sean's birthday is on Sunday and I'd love to make him one. Although mine wouldn't be nearly as cute as yours with the stripes and dots, you are awesome!

Christy,
You are such a cute wife! Before I forget, love the "double stroller" pic of the kids. Jeff and I are sad that we didn't get to know John that well during school. Maybe someday... =) Happy b-day anyway, John. You gotta be great since you can put up with Christy. haha LOVE the cupcake cake. You're getting really good at that.
