London's Run - Half Marathon

I've been trying to find a half marathon that wasn't on Sunday with no success. I had promised myself that I would do a half or full marathon within a year of having Brock. I had recently assured myself that the timing wasn't right and it would have to wait until later and that was OK. So when I heard that London's Run had a half marathon I was so excited! I usually am not a talk and run girl. I could never figure how to breathe, talk, and run at the same time but Brittany and I talked all the way through mile 13. She's a good friend to share her stories and her Body Glide with me. Although I was just going for completion, we actually ran it in pretty good time for no training. I had some major adrenaline going on. After mile 6 your body is pretty much numb. I ran into a lot of old friends from high school. Don't you love seeing people you haven't seen in 10 years with no makeup and bloodshot eyes. I'm over it.

A couple of things to keep in mind when running a half marathon:

Training is probably a good idea.
Don't spend the night before in 3 inch heels for a good 4 hours. Your feet need rest.
Get more than 5 hours of sleep.
If you don't know what body glide is, you are not prepared!
Only 10 songs on your Ipod shuffle gets real old, real quick.

I am so proud of you! I run my half this Saturday. I will take into account your advice. How do you look so good for not training?? I have been working my tail off and I still look pregnant! Next step: Stop single handedly eating entire pans of cake...

You go Christy! Can I just say a few things!? First, you look fantastic, second, you look awesome without makeup...you're beautiful, and third, you motivate me! I told Lance that I want to run a half marathon by this summer, I need to get going, and really start running hard! Way to go, I bet you feel great! Hopefully you'll see some pictures of a half marathon by the end of the summer on my blog!

That is so awesome you accomplished that. I'm jealous. I just don't have the long distance runner in me. It's a dream though.

You go girl! I'm totally jealous! Let's just say there's still a lot of baby jiggle left on me before I could survive a half-marathon! Yes...you've inspired me too.

Christy,
Impressive! I thought I ran one on short notice last summer. 3 weeks before I decieded I'd run a half. I can't believe you did it with no training--awesome! You look fabulous! Good job!
Love, Summer

Great job! I saw your time when I was looking for my sisters name on the results list. You did awesome, especially for not training! I was just happy to survive the 10K and honestly, I couldn't walk until Monday and only could walk after I did some pilates and stretched like crazy. I'm glad you had a fun trip, it was great to see you.

GEEZ! I don't think I will ever accomplish even a 1/2 marathon. You are totally the woman! Call me when you get a chance.

You amaze me. No training and a half marathon? That's crazy, girl. I'd be the one slumped over on the side of the road moaning from side pains and cramped calfs. Way to go!

Once again I feel like an idiot leaving a comment at the end of this ridiculously long list of already published posts...It was fun to see you guys last week! I still can't get over how dang cute Brock is. Charli is still talking about Austin, and Boston says "I match Austin!" whenever he wears his race car shirt. Its a bummer you guys live on the other side of the continent...it'd be so fun to get the kids together more. I know that you guys were so busy with the short time you had here in AZ, so thanks a million for letting us encroach on it so much!
