My Nose Job

Ha, I knew that would catch your attention. Last year Austin headbutted me and broke my nose while I was pregnant with Brock. Surgery was terrible because they couldn't put me under. I couldn't have the good drugs because I was pregnant and John was at an away game so I was left to deal with Austin, the nose breaking culprit, all by myself for the weekend. Misery! They reset my nose and it didn't heal right leaving me with a small dent in my nose and a severely deviated septum. Doc said I've been breathing 80% out of my right nostril and when that nostril gets stuffy....well let's just say that could account for my blond moments lately. So yesterday they did surgery on the deviated septum and did a turbinectomy so I could breathe. I opted not to fix the tiny dent because in order to fix it doc said he would have to narrow the other side and then "pinch" the bottom of my nose. Sorry but the word "pinch" didn't sit well with me. Michael Jackson images flew through my mind. It's not exactly like trying on a shirt and saying, "Honey, do you like it?" My nose isn't perfect by far, but it's MINE. It's really important to me that my kids see the nose they may have been passed down no matter how hideous or perfect it may be. Insurance covers all costs since it's post traumatic surgery. I do admit I have a hard time turning down anything free, even if it is a smaller nose. BUT...I did. So no dramatic before and after pictures. My nose should be exactly the same since everything was internal. So far I am bleeding a lot more than last time and my nose is swollen and huge! I was hoping that a drug induced coma would help me breeze through recovery but even with the good drugs the pain is still irritating. I threw up on the way home from the hospital in the car which didn't help the bleeding. I reached for the only available bag in the car, a small duffle bag. Yuck. Oh, and we are moving in 4 days. I really could of used that duffle bag.

You are so witty, even with pain and being on pain meds. You are amazing! You are such a trooper and I am glad you opted not to get the "pinch." Your nose is perfect. I was laughing so hard at your MJ comment. Anyway, let me know if you need anything. Ryan will be there on Tuesday to help whether you guys like it or not! Well, if you really don't want him to he won't. I really stick to my guns, huh?

Is "stick to your guns" even a saying? Oh, and by the way, we might go to the beach tomorrow instead of the carnival. It is supposed to be beautiful. Let me know if your mom wants to go or if I can take your boys.

So I died laughing at the Michael Jackson comment too. Way to go, girl! Hope it starts feeling better soon. Where are you guys moving to?

You poor girl. Do you remember Ben Jackson (rob's bro) anyway he taught Mitch to head butt and hit my eye making black and swollen. Get better soon. Where are you guys moving too?

Wow...what a story and I can't believe you're up and alert! Or...maybe it's the drugs talking?? Hope that your nose heals well! I fear having my kids break my nose! Not much fun! Good luck healing!

Yikes! Hope you feel better soon, esp. with moving!
Anything with the nose hurts like the dickens.

I'm getting excited/nervous and I have just over 4 weeks left to go.

You look so beautiful in all your pictures you would never know you even had a broken nose at all!! I have a permanent "dent" in between my eyebrows called a wrinkle because of squinting due to bad eyesight!! So now I am getting glasses they will be here this week and it is a new 4 eyed girl........err old fart!!! :)N

Ah man, that looks painful. I wish I was there to help you move, hopefully you have a lot of friends or a great moving company to help you. Are you excited about moving to a house?? How fun! Hope you are feeling better really fast.

P.S. I saw your comment on Brooke's blog and I have the same bunk bed from Costco. It has held up so well! We have had it for about 2 years now and it still looks brand new despite all the abuse my kids have inflicted on it.

Wow, that is no fun. I have heard that surgery on the nose is especially hard. I hope you recover soon! Where are you moving to?

I admit it, if I had to get my septum fixed, I would opt for the nose job! I am a bit paranoid about noses, they grow continuously! It's funny b/c I put on my tag post that I am wierd about noses and ears! You don't need to fix your nose anyway, you look great even with a bandage!

Oh, poor you! I feel so bad, nothing is more worse than being sick, not feeling well, or being hurt, and still having to do your motherly things! You are a tough one though, in all honestly I don't know of anyone that could deal with it better :) Get better soon!

Oh, I hope you are feeling better. Despite the nose thing, pretty exciting that your moving. It's always kindof fun to get into a new place, especially when your mom's there to help. I personally think that can make everything better. Mom's are the best.

Christy, I felt so bad for you reading the story behind the broken nose. That sounds like something that would happen to me.....getting head butted by one of my boys while my husband was busy or gone.. You are tough! Hope it is feeling better. How exciting that you are moving. I can't wait to see pictures. We are headed to Disney tomorrow.
