My little book review...

My recent trip to Utah alone presented me with some valued uninterrupted reading time on the plane. I hardly knew what to do with myself without Brock on my lap slobbering his half eaten Cheetos on my pants or Austin wanting my headphones for his DVD player. Heidi was sweet enough to give the Host when I got home for Mother's Day. So here's the book review starting with my most favorite.

THE HOST by Stephenie Meyer:
It actually did take me a little bit to get what was going on in the book. It could be because I was back to my mom and wifely duties while I was reading it and was easily distracted. All you Twilight fans will like this. I tend to gravitate towards non-fiction books but after the two serious books below I was in need of a lighter read. Stephenie Meyer is an amazing writer and she did a great job with this one!

THE GLASS CASTLE:
A true story about MSNBC contributor Jeanette Walls and her life growing up. It starts off with Jeannette all dressed up on her way to a party when she looks out the window and sees a homeless woman rummaging through some garbage. She then realizes as she looks closer that it is her mother! Although I do think it is worth reading sometimes I felt like it was a little depressing. You start to wonder how much more this girl could take.

A LONG WAY GONE-Memoirs of a boy soldier:
A true story about a boy who grew up in Sierra Leone during tumultuous times. John's coach last year gave this to all the players to read. It was fascinating but way too graphic and violent for me.

I'm on the look out for my next good book. Any suggestions would be great!

I just read "the Other Boelyn Girl" this week. It is a crazy long book but VERY fascinating to me. It took place in the 1500's revolving around King Henry VIII. The movie came out to theatres recently so you may have seen it? It was a good book, you get swept up in the story from page 1 but there were some parts that I had to just flip the page because they were a little too graphic and naughty for me. I'm on the search for another book too, I'll let you know if I find another good one.

Oh! I am so glad you posted some of your good reads. It's always nice to take some time for yourself (while the kiddies are terrorizing the house) and read a good book. I've been wondering how The Host would be in comparison the Twighlight series. Glad to hear you liked it. Maybe I'll go buy it this weekend....
Thanks!!!!
