"West without a 't', rhymes with mess"

...is how Austin explained the name of our baby for the first month.

When it was time to give him an official name and blessing we had planned on doing it when John's family was in town but we completely spaced it in the craziness. Luckily my family came into town the next week so we were able to do it with them last second.

I've never been a huge fan of doing baby blessings in your house rather than at church...

...until we did it at our house.

Bonus #1:
Not having to make the stars align so that your baby has a clean diaper, is fed, and happy all within the 5 minute window for the blessing at church.

Bonus #2:
Minutes after taking this picture in our hot backyard John stripped down upstairs in the privacy of his room and stood in front of the fan to "bring his core temperature down" before greeting our guests. I'm not sure how well that would go over in church.

Bonus #3:
Blessing our baby when he is a baby not a toddler. Since John's pretty busy on Sundays for the next couple of months we were able to do it on Sunday night rather than waiting until the season was over when Wes could probably walk by himself up to the pulpit to be blessed.

Bonus #4:
My bestie Heidi can show her support on the comfort of our couch...

...in her sweats...

...ONE WEEK after having a baby. Love her.

I would post a picture of her but she might kill me so we'll settle for her other half, Ryan.

John, Wes, me, Mom, and Dad
One of these things is not like the other...

*I wanted to add a little about Wes for our family journal.
He is 2 1/2 months here. 13 lbs 6 oz. He eats a ton. He is so sweet and loves being talked to and held more than any of my other babies. He tries to talk back to me sometimes. When I am in the room he follows me around with his eyes, always keeping tabs on me. He seems like an old Spirit to me. As if he could talk, he has stories to tell. He adds so much to our home.

Christy, I didn't think your kids could get any cuter after Austin and Brock - but hello, I could eat Wes. What a precious little guy!

You guys have a beautiful family.

What a neat day! I love baby blessings... they just remind me of the love the Lord must have for us to trust us with such special little spirits... Your Wes is too cute!

That seems so nice and private. I didn't even know you could have a baby blessing at home. WHAT THE HECK??? That would have saved me a LOT of stress with Axton! Um, hello? We drove all the way to California for his baby blessing so that Dan's parents could be there. I'll never do it again!

Wes is the cutest thing ever. I just adore all of your kids. And I am so glad that I got to be there. And I am so glad that you did not post a pic of me in all of my natural beauty (or not so beautiful!).

Holy cow John is tall! We blessed all our babies at home. Mostly because my hubby is a little chicken, but we have always had out of towners so Sunday's didn't always work out.

I can't get over his HAIR. Dark, curly and his big smile that lights up his whole face...so cute. The blessing sounds relaxing and nice. He is so cute, I wish I could snuggle him. He sounds like Gray...loves to be held, and keep his eyes on you ALWAYS. So precious. Congrats love you guys.

He is a doll Christy, really.
We have blessed all of our babies at home because they were RSV season babies, and I wouldn't do it any other way. Especially since our stake has a 4 person limit on the circle in church! Lame huh! We're blessing B3 this week at home. Love it.

Congratulations, Christy! He's really adorable. We need to make a deal now, though...no more cute babies until I get one! You can only have ugly ones until then! (JUST KIDDING!) I think his dark hair and light eyes remind me of baby Boston...I get all choked up when I see him!

You look beautiful.
More and more people are blessings babies at home. I originally felt the same way as you about it...I almost felt that it probably wasn't as sacred at home since it's not even done at the 'church. I have been shifting that thought more and more. I look forward to Brett blessing baby #4 at home. (no, that's not an announcment).
I can't get enough of Wes's face! Are you kidding me? I told you that Ridge originally was going to be named Wes, right? Darling name.
Beautiful pictures! Hope all is well.
