I realized that my blog is entirely too event based lately. Sure it's exciting to blog about trips and such but the purpose of this blog for me was to journal our family's everyday happenings.
I love to run. There's even a class at the YMCA that we belong to where we do group runs outside 3-6 miles while my kids are safely in the childwatch. The teacher is a abrasive Italian woman who yells at you the whole time you are running...but that's a whole other post in itself. I thought my days of running outside would have to wait until my kids were grown so this class makes me truly happy!
I thought that I was cursed with bad feet. After a run my feet would hurt so bad that I literally limp around the house. I even went to a podiatrist that gave me some insoles and said if they didn't work to come back for orthopedics (they didn't work). Although I've heard Nike shoes aren't great for running, we are kind obligated to Nike so I have tried different Nike shoes and never really found one I liked. I've never had knee problems but over the last couple of months my left knee has been acting up.
Most of my family are avid runners. I wouldn't say we are fast runners but all of us have endurance and can run forever. While I was in Arizona Shelly, Mark, and I went running one morning. Being a nursing momma I ran out the door for a quick 3 miles, Mark ran about 5 miles, and Shelly came back 2 hours later finishing 13 miles. She's crazy!
Later that day Scott wanted to go to Road Runner Sports in Tempe where they have diagnostics to tell you what kind of shoe you should be wearing. I was thrilled to maybe put an end to my pain! They analyze you by videotaping you running on a treadmill then make you walk on a pressure sensor to see what parts of your feet the most pressure is being placed.
I have been running for a month now and my feet and knees haven't hurt once! I'm sure that RunnersDepot and RunnersWorld do the same diagnostics so if you are in pain go get checked out.

i was just at road runner and tried on those shoes, ended up with different ones but it's so nice to get a good fit. i think being able to run while your kids are at the gym would be amazing. happy running...
I am so glad you found a shoe that works, it is horrible when you have problems during or after running. And I have never gotten into running outside yet. I'll have to try it sometime!
I'm right there with you Christy! I went to RoadRunner a few years ago and found the perfect shoes! In fact...I keep buying that same pair over and over. I've had 3 of the same Saucony's and I love them! I don't think I would've ever ventured out from my Asics I always loved. Keep up the good work lady!
I really wish I could get out for a run. That sounds so nice. I am a believer in shoes too. I too have done the same process and it is amazing what a difference it makes. I need new shoes right now, my knees are starting
to hurt. Sounds wonderful.
Seriously good to know! My pinkie toe falls asleep when I run, I may have to go there!
you really always have been a runner! how fun does a running class sound...I've never even heard of that! glad that you found some shoes that work better!
WOW Christy, good to know! I keep putting off running and going to the gym until that elusive day that I am a stay at home mom. I realize that may not happen - or if it does, I'll be in my 50's and will have lost 30 years of my life being lazy. Maybe I'll try running. I wonder if they have special shoes that make it easier to run with knock knees? :)
I'm glad you got your problem fixed!
MIss you friend!! I have to say that every time I read your blog I learn something totally new about you and considering all the hours we spend together talking while our kids are in mischief I am a little concerned about this. What are we talking about in those hours?? Me I guess!... I vow to be better!
I have always wanted to do that! Maybe someday!
