I can see clearly now...

They moved my Lasik date up so TODAY I had Lasik four hours ago. I can see! I was watching the Today show as I was running the other day and they did a study that showed that most people would rather lose a limb or be BLIND then be 40 pounds overweight. You would rather be blind??!!! What does that say about our image obsessed society? That may sound hypocritical since I was running my little buns off while thinking about the America's warped sense of beauty. No, I wasn't blind...but I had a small enough glimpse to know what a precious sense sight is. For the first time in my life I can see the clock across the room. I couldn't be happier. I can see clearly now.
As a post surgery treat we went on a wild goose chase for the nearest Baskin Robbins for the 31 cent scoop special. And yes, I sported my fierce post-op bug goggles. After wasting $20 on gas going to a two closed locations and many calls to Heidi to direct us where to go we got our fill of 31 cent scoops. John, always a sucker for a deal, headed back to the counter after our initial scoops and came back with a huge bag full of ice cream. I gave him a look like, "Dang, honey." To which he countered with, "What? I'm alone all weekend. I need ice cream!" Tomorrow I head to Utah for my mom's 70th birthday/women's conference excursion leaving John with the kids. I've never left all my boys including John. I know I'll have fun but I feel a little guilty. John always takes the kids on fun adventures so they probably won't miss me too badly. Until I get a back...

I am so envious that you are taking that trip!! I wish I were going to Women's conference but atlas my husband has been to the ER twice this week among other things (back pain) so my last second plans to go were thwarted!!

By the way I am so happy you can finally see clearly!!

Congrats on your eyes! I still don't wear glasses & I have never had any problems my eyes. Have fun on your trip. My dream is to leave my kids home alone with my hubby. He has never had them alone for longer than a couple hours. I think I'm going to plan a trip.

You look so stylish with your goggles on, I should have come last night and suffered through Ashlyn just to see you there at B&R with those suckers on. Have so much fun in UT with the girls!

yay for you! i was trying to get rick to agree to a similar deal, but i think i might have to wait until he actually has a paycheck to win him over on that one. he did offer me some clothes though, so thanks for giving me leverage...i am way happy for you and looking forward to when i can get lasik myself...

we also tried to hit the 31 cent baskin robbins and the line was ridiculous!! it was halfway down the block. we had promised it to ty for being good at school and so we ended up at dairy queen...lines like those are just not worth 60 cents to my sweet husband (especially on test week.)

congrats on being able to see! I saw that same episode about being 40 pounds over weight...so crazy! We went to get 31 cent ice cream too, the line was a MILE long, welcome to Provo, so I decided to pay a little more and not wait in line, so we got Mcdonalds instead! Maybe I will run into you at cafe rio...I think that is where I always saw you when you lived here. If you go eat lunch there give me a call 8018302132, I will come by and say hello!

Congrats!! That's great!
I would rather be 40 lbs. overweight and work it off... seriously who'd want to be blind?
Great glasses too!

You deserve a little getaway! It will be weird for you for the first couple hours as we realize you only have YOU to take care of but YOU WILL LOVE IT! I met up with Jeff in Hawaii last year and I was completely alone for 2 days and it was heaven. Have fun and enjoy your time with your family. (I'm glad you can see now)

Yeah! Isn't it the best? Are your eyes so dry? Mine were horrible for a few weeks after but then they were fine. I'm excited for you!

I know this is way late and you are probably used to your perfect sight by now, but I have to tell you how cool and how jealous I am! That would be so neat, to just get up in the morning and be able to see clearly without stumbling around looking for your glasses, waiting until your eyes are not burning from waking up, before being able to put in your contacts. mmmm yeah, totally jealous! That is crazy that people would rather be blind then heavy, that is truly warped!
